Nicole Beharie Starring in TD Jakes' "On the Seventh Day"

Thanks to Indiewire's Shadow and Act for mentioning this site on their post when I broke the news with the press release on Twitter!

Following up on this post, Nicole is simultaneously filming 2 movies this month! Now we know what the other film is...

Nicole Beharie will star alongside Blair Underwood, Sharon Leal, Pam Grier and Jacqueline Fleming in the film "On the Seventh Day." The film is directed by Neema Barnette and produced by Jeff Clanagan for Codeblack Entertainment and Nina Henderson Moore.

Bishop T.D. Jakes (Woman Thou Art Loose) is the writer and executive producer. The film will be entirely shot in New Orleans. It is said to be a dramatic sequel to Jakes' 2004 film "Woman Thou Art Loose".

According to the film's press release:

"This independent film takes its audience on a seven day journey inside the souls and secrets of a husband and wife, Kari and David Ames as they search for redemption, truth and faith while on a race to find their missing daughter. The film uses the eerie, yet peaceful and beautiful scenery of Louisiana’s bayous and the cities unique culture to depict a story that everyone can relate to, a story of a couples transformation, strength and conviction."

Nicole will play Beth Hutchens. Although, I do not know what her character entails, we do know that Blair Underwood and Sharon Leal will play the couple David and Kari Ames. Pam Grier will play a police detective.

I found another piece of information from this Jacqueline Fleming interview with Matt J. Horn in his blog. She is part of the cast and she gave a tad more insight into the story:

"This year has been very good to me! I am currently in production on a new TD Jakes film “On the Seventh Day”. I have a starring role alongside Blair Underwood, Pam Grier, and Sharon Leal. It’s being shot entirely in New Orleans. The story involves the kidnapping of a little girl and the secrets that are revealed about her parents and the other adults during the search to find her. The message in this movie will have an impact of biblical proportions. It is expected to be released in Nov/Dec 2011."

Good to know they plan to release it at the end of this year!
